IWES - 3rd Waste Technologies Symposium and Exhibiton

Dear valuable representatives of our sector,

In recent years, mankind has been experiencing from first hand, the problems caused by continuously decreasing energy resources and disruption of the ecological balance, and because of this, by increasing the level of awareness in this area, mankind has been striving to come up with various strategies aimed at decreasing the negative influences he has had on the environment.

Among these strategies, the most prevalent one is effective environment management. Those countries that have achieved a sufficient level of efficiency in terms of energy efficiency, resource consumption, waste management, recycling and recovery, have also been improving their levels of environmental sustainability. These countries which have realized that it is possible to contribute to national economy as well by means of a national waste management planning strategy, have been increasing their efforts in this direction and improving their technologies accordingly.

Environment and waste management has become important agenda items in our country as well. Particularly the issues of waste disposal and energy production from waste now have a special place in the action plans of local governments.

Particularly the Renewable Energy Law that passed the parliament recently, foresees that government incentives will be mostly provided to waste related efforts and this shows that the issue has become very important in our country. We believe that, with similar laws and practices, activities aimed at waste management will increase and will become widespread throughout the country.

There is no doubt that effective implementation of all stages of waste management including reducing waste at origin, waste categorization, recycling and recovery will contribute to both the environment and the economy. Work that has been and will be carried out in light of this vision, will have significant importance both in terms of global responsibility in addition to our national responsibilities.

As it is the case every year, the issue of following all developments and technological advancements in the area of waste technologies, and making these technologies widespread, will be the top agenda items of IWES 2011. The event, which will be held for the third time, will bring together numerous institutions and organizations and will serve as a platform where the problems experienced in the sector and solutions recommended will be discussed.

With this event, we are willing to take important steps towards “a more livable environment” with you. Looking forward to seeing you at IWES 2011.

Best Regards,

Ali BAYRAMOĞLU
